Toccata for solo piano by Marc Fortier Dur: ca 5′
This piece first features one hand and then the other hand only and then both hands. The first movement of this triptych to be created was for a student with a disability in the right hand. This was so well received that the composer decided to expand the work with two other parts, one featuring the right hand and then both hands.
It displays different styles of music writing from Classical to Serial and it can be taught to advanced pupils in order to develop the virtuosity of both hands. It might be performed in a concert or as an encore in total or in parts.
